I just wanted to let anyone know... if you've followed them, that as of the update this evening, Gwyneth Rose is actually breathing completely on her own. What an amazing miracle. She's almost 2 pounds... but God is working miracles each day in her life.

I know that I don't actually know them, but... I rejoice with this precious family for the achievements that have made. The amazing hurdles they've had to jump.

God is soooo good! I thank Nate & Tricia for being so faithful to him. What a great testimony they have. Calling all Millionaires

You see, money has gotten a little tight these days here in the Flatt household. I"m a little embarassed actually to admit this.... but I thought maybe, someone by God's leading would pop by this sight, and decide to donate to Jeremy and I. Yeah, we could use about... anywhere from 1500 to pay for Jer's school to 10, 000 for a downpayment on a house. So... we struck out on our first try.....

So last night we finally ventured into the world of looking at houses. We love our realtor! She is one of the nicest people out there. She really educated us on our first night out. It was very cold, educational, and humorous at times. Many of the houses we looked at had been on the market a while, and thus didn't have electricity. Therefore when it's 20 degrees outside, we were lucky if it was 30 degrees inside. One house, I was actually afraid to breathe in!! There were two houses that were more promising.... but they seemed like "lifers." Ya know, the kind that ya buy with the intention to live in forever. Not that it's a bad idea.... we were just thinking small, quaint, but more an extension of our apartment.... bigger, more room.... and something to show for our money. We've decided we don't need to have a living room & family room... and dining room..... we don't have the furniture to furnish all of those. Then it dawned on me.... I remembered back to my cousin's 1st house. It was small, but nice... and just what we're looking for! It had a "great room" which included their living room, kitchen and eating area... and then it at 3 bedrooms and a bathroom.... an attached garage.... and someplace to do laundry (I can't remember where that was right now). So.... if you see something like this, and live in our neck of the woods... please let Jeremy or myself know. We'd like to check it out!

Anyway, that's the update for now!!

Oh wait, one more. Tricia & baby Gwyn are doing well. Gwyn is getting bigger. Her daddy got to hold her for the first time this week. It was a cool video to watch. Had Jeremy not been sitting next to me, I probably would have shed a tear or two. Tricia is doing pretty well.. she's very weak... and needs some prayers... but as a whole she is doing pretty well. Hi again

Hi everyone!

Well I thought I'd give an update on our lives.

I'm still teaching. I keep praying for a snow day... haven't gotten on yet. So that's a bummer. I keep praying for one... there's always tomorrow I guess. I'm looking forward to our annual trip down to the south come Easter time. I love the opportunity to catch up with friends that we haven't seen in a long time.

Jeremy just got a new job. In fact he starts Thursday. We'll be working for a non-profit organization downtown working in their IT department. He's ecstatic! I'm ecstatic! The best part is the hours are better and he won't have to work weekends. He's given up pretty much on Circuit City. He's plannin on workin there maybe one Saturday morning every two weeks or so.... but we'll see how long that lasts. School is going well for him. He even made the DEAN'S LIST last quarter. So I'm a super proud wife. If you come over sometime, the letter is on our fridge... right next to his discharge orders. :-)

My family is doing well. Mom & Dad are doing ok.... and Kim is doing great too. She had an interesting run at the ER earlier this month. Apparently she was on an antibiotic that interacted with another one of the meds she was on. So, she spent a few hours there... came home and has been doing well since. Please continue to pray for her... winter is always the rough month. And anyone who knows I completely freak out every time she's in the hospital. So say a prayer for her... my parents (who are amazing) and Jer and I.

On to other exciting news... no... for those of you whose first thought is "they're pregnant!" We're not pregnant.... not for a while. Let Jer finish school. Then we'll talk! No, we've decided to look and see if there are any houses out there for us. Rent keeps going up... and instead of sinking all this money into an apartment and get NOTHING, why not see what our options are, ya know? Besides... it's a buyers market. Might as well see... no harm in that. Worse comes to worse we stay here.

Oh and as far as the story below... Tricia and Baby Gwyneth are doing pretty well. God is certainly showing His power.... and His handiwork. He's really doing miracles in the lives of these two women. If you haven't had the chance to check it out... I highly recommend reading their blog @ http://www.cfhusband.blogspot.com . It really will encourage you in your walk with the Lord. Their faith is amazing... even in hard times!

Alright, well I think that's about it for now. Oh Franklin... he's doing well too. Love the little guy!

Hi everyone,

I know it's been a long while since I've posted, but I thought that I should post this. As many of you know, my hobby is "keeping up" with friends and family (and "like family") who live out of town, or who I can't always talk to regularly. Some call it blog stalking... but.... whatever. Anyway, in my normal habitual readings, I came across a blog of a dear sweet couple who are desperately in need of prayer. While I can't say I know them... they are friends of a friend. And regardless, they're brothers and sisters in Christ and I know they would appreciate it. And if I could help, even if it's by spreading their message and getting others to pray... then it's working!! So please, check out this website, http://cfhusband.blogspot.com and say a prayer. I'm pretty sure they aren't picky about how long you're praying... just so you're praying. They seem like a great couple... and they have an amazing testimony. Even in this short time of following their story... they have touched my life... and have given me a great Godly example. So please, join with me, and pray.....

The one who needs the most prayer is Tricia & her baby. She has cystic fibrosis, and was preparing for a double lung transplant when she found out she was pregnant. So now she wasn't eligible for transplant. They followed God's leading and when the doctors suggested aborting the baby... they said that wasn't an option. Some days she does better than others. More recently she seems to be getting very sick. Now, however, they baby has reached 24 weeks and the point of gestational viability. So now if for some reason the baby needs to be born... their little girl has a fighting chance. Also, pray for her husband, Nate and both their families. I'm sure this is a trying time for all of them.

Thank you for your prayers. I hope that through all of this ultimately God is Glorified!

Updates all around......

Well today I realized that I haven't sufficiently given updates on all the areas of my life.... and I don't want some people to feel left out. Here's a few updates on previously mentioned prayer requests or stories.....

Sunday School- Well how is our good ol' Sunday School class doing? Actually, God has blessed us magnificently! Around April we got our first couple. And it was definitely a nice, intimate group. But, since it was a first time teaching a Sunday School class, it was a nice way to ease into each other. Then, after contemplating with our other couple, we decided to revamp our class.... we gave it a new name, opened it up to include not only married couples but dating and engaged couples. We also chose a high profile book. The combination of which brought us about 8 more people. So we averaged 8-10 each Sunday. Praise the Lord!! Again, not huge, but it was the right size so that we could ease into teaching a Sunday School class. God is sooooo good to us. The book we covered was The Five Love Languages. If you haven't read it, it's definitely a good book, and a must read for any couple! That quarter ended Labor Day weekend (also our 2 year anniversary... go us!!). The 3rd and current quarter we decided to do yet another high profile book... so we chose none other than Love and Respect again, another great book, and another one that every couple should read!! Since that first week we average about 20, but we have the potential to have 30 people on any given Sunday. I love the dynamics of our class! While originally the idea was for "young married couples." We've been able to glean from all the walks of life that people have be it their 1st marriage and they're in the 20's or their 2nd and their in the 40's. I think we've all gained a lot from talking with each other, encouraging each other, and listening to each other. God is blessing Jeremy and I's life together from answering His call to such a GREAT ministry. (Even if we didn't exactly see it that way when we were first asked.)

Kellee's teaching- Well I can't say I haven't had my share of excitement, stress, laughter, and sadness. But again, I have seen God's provisions here and there. Sometimes it takes a little longer than I want... but God can and has been doing a mighty work in me. I know the groundwork that He is laying will be profitable later in my life. God is good! Especially when I think of how he even provided this job for me. The one thing I've learned most is "identifying." I've learned to identify with my students, to give them the grace and kindness that God has shown me... but also how to offer loving discipline. All of which I know will be especially useful when Jeremy and I have our own children someday. ;-)

Jeremy- My handsome husband is doing well. He's still working at Circuit City as a Firedog. He likes it.... but he doesn't. It just depends on the day & how much he feels unappreciated by them. He's also working on his degree. I think, if I'm remembering correctly, by this time next year he should finish his associates at LCC. From there he goes to CSU where he will finish his degree in Business Administration with Computer Networking Option. (If anyone knows what that means... well... give it a shot! I sure don't. I know it sounds good though!) Because of the way he's doing things, he'll get more classes that he'd need to take at CSU out of the way at LCC (thus saving money). Either way, it'll end up taking him no more than 2 1/2 years.

Offspring- Oddly enough.... we get this question quite often. "When are you having kids?" Sometimes it comes in the form of my inquisitive students.... other times it comes from well meaning friends and/or family members. This is especially true since my best friend and her husband announced that she is pregnant and due in March 08. Well.... as of now, unless God see's fit... it probably won't be an addition to the Corbett/Flatt clan for another 3 years. Again, God can work in mysterious ways. His ways are higher than ours... and He can do anything....but if we're on the same page... then it's probably going to be a few years until we can expect our own bundle. And, please, don't feel bad for us... we're actually quite happy having each other... and our little fluffball Franklin. God's timing is amazing... and when that time comes it will be perfect. While I'm at it... I might as well tell you a funny story from yesterday.... I was teaching my Pre-Algebra (7th) class. One student raised her hand and asked "Mrs. Flatt, do you have any children?" I said "No, not right now. We have a dog named Franklin. He's our little child." The girl you could tell thought about it... and was a little disappointed.... and with sincerity said "Awww... well that's ok. You can adopt children." I had to chuckle....

I'm one of them....

Well, I'm officially one of them. As many of you know (and have been crept out) I love to keep up with people and their "news" of their lives. My best method.... blogs! Love 'em. I'm pretty much a daily blog stalker. It's interesting... and now some of my friends are having kids and it's cool to see them grow, even when they're far away. But... none the less, some people tend to forget to blog... and they forget, and forget... and I sit, and stalk, and get bored, and bored and glaze over.... well.... Friends.... I've become one of them.... a consistent stalker, but forgetting to update my own blog. Please, accept my apologies.

Anyways, I last blogged right after I finished up at the day care. It's crazy to think that I've been away from it for almost 2 months. Sheesh. But it definitely was a good move. Especially since I was informed that what was my employment may be shut down in the future. Sad. But.... the 21st of August brought about teacher-in-service. OY! Is all I have to say. A lot of hype that got me all nervous and slightly wiggy.... but now that I'm in the grove of things... I"m getting better. The first week was interesting. I had to call a parent for disciplinary reasons the second day of school. What a fun way to break in a newby! I found myself mostly just trying to "stay afloat" a lot. And according to my mom "that's what 1st year teaching is all about." GRR... I just keep telling myself that "I have summers off now." And.... "Next year will be better." I guess that's a good thing that 5 years into it, I'm already planning on coming back. I'm becoming more efficient in my planning periods now, so I haven't had to bring as much home at night. Sure I have a few later evenings... but.... for the most part I try to make good use of my time in school. Last week was a nightmare. We had open house, and then progress reports were due Monday. So, that was a pretty big stress for me... because we don't have a very efficient system in place yet. Soo... yeah.... but.... I survived the first progress reports with only 2 parents calling, and they were nice, and I gave them the info they needed.... and they were reasonable, and fine. I'd like to say (and I don't take it for granted) and by God's grace I only had 2 out of 30. Not too bad I don't think. Other than that.... ya know, it's fun being a teacher. So much drama... and new stories to tell. I know most teachers probably have already heard these type... but... they're pretty good stories. Junior High is fun to teach. They're smart kids, and they can hold conversations. They're good kids. I actually have a funny story..... a kid came in yesterday and said "Mrs. Flatt I got Halo 3 last night." And I said "Oh, that's fun. I'm not good at Halo." And with shock he said "You know what Halo is?" And I said "yes, and I'm terrible at it." He said "Wait? You play video games?!" I said "Well, sometimes, I need to just veg out and relax. So yeah. I mostly just stay with Mario Kart and any type of Wii game." And with even more shock he said "You have a Wii?!" I said "Yep." That response brought "My teacher plays video games?! You're a teacher, you can't play video games!" Anyways, I just thought that was a funny story. Apparently I didn't get the memo that teachers can't play video games. Granted, I don't play it often right now.... I thought about it this weekend, then forgot.... but why not? Hehehe.... also funny... today in Language Arts.... I was asked if I was of Arab decent. I thought that was funny because I do not look at all like I have any sort of Middle Eastern decent. Mostly because I get a pale pasty color of white in the heart of winter after my cruise tan has completely faded. Hehehehe.... (TMI?)
