Calling all Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles.... consumers....

I have a very special little girl who is turning 1 in about a week. I'm dying to get some advice from moms and dads with small children. I want to get her a great gift, that says "I was thinking about you." Yet it want it to be practical, and amazing!

I want to get the advice from my readership (though you may be few) as to the gift that you either got someone, or a gift that you received when your little one turned one. I want a gift that you perhaps just couldn't live with out! Big, little, expensive or cheap, no idea will be thought ridiculous. I have been pondering this one for a while, and I'm pretty much stumped.

Just an FYI, they're not really "video/dvd" people. (There's a story behind that...) so, suggestions other than "Baby Einstein" or "veggie tales" would be great (even though I think those are great!)

Touched by the king....

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Tonight Jeremy and I went to the Valentine's Banquet at church. The theme was "Touched by the King." And, you guessed it, there was a Christian Elvis impersonator. He took Elvis songs, and changed the lyrics to have a "Christ oriented" message. He actually did a great job presenting the gospel. While it wasn't my normal cup of tea, it was thoroughly amusing.

I got some great pictures tonight....using my new sky blue digital camera that Jeremy got me for Valentine's Day. Wooohoo! I was sooo surprised and excited. He told me my other half of my gift will be here on Tuesday... he got me a digital picture frame too. He's so good to me!

No Valentine's entry would be complete without telling you how much I love my Valentine. I really love him for the man that he is. He has such a big heart. He is probably one of the most selfless guys I know. He's always ready and willing to help people. He's such an honorable man, and he's such a hard worker. God knew exactly what he was doing when He gave me Jeremy. He really does complement me in so many ways... he makes up for my many shortcomings, and together we are such a great team. Not a single day goes buy when I don't thank God for making my wonderful and special husband. I love you, Jeremy!

Dancing the night away....

Tonight, Jeremy and I had an amazing opportunity to go to see Lord of the Dance. And really, I find it hard to describe it in words. Those of you who know (and love) my husband, know that he is not a big theater fan. He even said he enjoyed it. Really, it's something that I think everyone should go see... in person... it's incredible how fast they can move. I determined this evening I don't think I could move my body that fast even if it were on fire.

It was such a fun evening. We did dinner before hand and then the show. I have my best friend Katie and her husband Phil to thank for this great evening! (It was a gift for my birthday.) I loved every single second of it.

So if ever given the opportunity, take it!

Mmmm mmmm good!!

I love how God knows everything. Last week I had a brilliant idea to get some Coldstone for Jeremy and I. It's just comforting to know that on a day (like today) when you need just something to indulge your senses... that God allows you to have a little morsel of Coldstone in your freezer waiting to pacify you. Tonight I am enjoying dark chocolate peppermint with brownie bits. All I have to say is mmm mmmm goood! God is so good! All the time! Even with the trivial matters such as just needing a really yummy treat!

Heart of my Heart....

How do you know when the desires of your heart are the desires of God's heart? Does it have to be confirmed through your spouse? Will both of you have the same burning desire if it's truly from God? Do they come around to it eventually through the prompting of the Holy Spirit?

How do you know?

There has been a strong desire on my heart for at least 3 months now.... and so far it's just not the same desire of my husband. I'm sure he'll come around.

I know God's timing is perfect, but sometimes I just feel like a bratty little kid. I don't want to wait. I want what I want... now. Hahaha....

Oh, and this has no relation whatsoever to the last post. It's just me rambling at the moment.

To update from the last post, please just keep us in our prayers. There is so much going on... and decisions that need to be made. My mom just says wait it out... it'll all blow over. But at what expense? What's the price one pays for their sanity?

Calling all Prayer Warriors!

Sometimes you just need a hug from Jesus.

Today, I felt like that.... I just kept reaching out for Jesus. Therefore, this blog comes with a somewhat heavy heart. (No, there is nothing wrong with Jeremy and I. He's very supportive and loving.) I'm asking for my few readers to just remember me/us in prayer. A few things will need to change over the next few days, weeks and months. It may be God leading us on a new adventure, it just may be an excruciating growing experience. Whatever it may be, I do not pretend to know. But what I do know is, that I am seeking God's direction. I ask that you would join with us and pray. That you would pray that God will show me clearly and confirm through Jeremy the direction to go. Pray that God would provide a refuge for the meantime. Pray that God would pour out his grace on our lives, that he will give me patience and the clarity of mind. We pray that His leading would be without a doubt, and that we will be receptive to this leading.

God has brought us to this place, and we know He won't leave us. We know He is a sovereign God and Lord over all.

Please keep us in your prayers today, tomorrow, and over the next bit of time.

Alive and Well.....

So as of Sunday night January 11, I have been exceedingly happy. I have am such a dork, but I will admit that I have waited for this past Sunday night to happen for at least a year and a half. It is something that I take great pride in talking with others about, discussing what will happen next.. and I even use to to relate a little bit with my students. What a bonding experience! Haha... So what am I talking about.... Sunday night, 8pm Fox began airing Season 7 of 24. Those of you who know me, and really you probably don't even have to know me well to know this, know that I LOVE the show 24. Am was totally thrilled that they "raised the dead" when it came to Tony! In fact, I would love if they could some how resurrect David Palmer too! I am very excited about this season. I'll admit, I was very skeptical as to how the year off would take a toll on things. But none the less, the show is alive and well! And once again, I am a big dork! But... I can admit my dorkyness on my own blog and hope that those of you who read this will not think anything less of me because I have dedicated a post to this show.

Anywho, better update for the next post... I promise.

Wooohooo! 4 Digits! I just realized that sometime in my recent blog hiatus/neglection, that I finally tipped the scales of 1000 views. Thanks everyone! That actually just made my day (thus I'm posting about it). And I'd like to thank everyone also, for taking a little bit of enjoyment about the Flatt household. I like to know I have people checking up on me!

Why not laugh a little?!

So I've been trying to capture it in photograph form, but so far, it hasn't worked out yet. I will keep trying. But for now, you will just have to imagine it for yourself... and laugh a lot! I hope everyone finds it as funny as I, because I sure laughed a lot about it for a whole week!

So, here's the story... I'll write the script of it all. (*The names have been changed to protect their ego should they find this blog.)

Me: Ok class, today is Monday. That means that your test corrections are due! Don't forget that those of you who had a D or an F needed to have it signed, so hopefully you did. (Collects papers.)
*Jake where is yours?

*Jake: Oh, uh yeah, here it is. (Hands it in.)

Me: (Looking perplexed at the crumpled, but otherwise perfectly good paper... noticing a near "bite taken out of the side.) Where's your parent signature? You needed to have it signed.

*Jake: Oh well, it actually fell off. (Saying it in all seriousness)

Me: (Taking a closer look at the "bite") Hmm... really? Because it just is the part that has the line for your mom to sign.

*Jake: Yep, fell off. She did sign it, but it fell off.

Me: Ok, well, hmm... let's try the truth. You didn't get it signed, and you ripped off the line that says sign and return x___________________. Now that's the truth isn't it?



So, I'm pretty sure that I find this extremely funny only because he tried to pass it off as signed. He also forgot that his dad is the coach for the basketball team so there would be practice that afternoon. Needless to say, I was waiting for his dad when he came into the building!
